The California State Bureau of Automotive Repair temporarily closed five Sacramento area car repair shops Thursday following several complaints alleging customers were overcharged or made to pay for work that wasn't done.
BAR announced that five Purrfect Auto Service Centers had been issued an interim suspension order Thursday approved by a Sacramento Court.
The shutdown came after 18 complaints listing numerous wrong-doings by the shops, including charging for parts and services that were not needed as well as making false or misleading statements and charging for repairs that weren't done.
With a name like Purrfect Auto Service what do you expect? Biggest red flag ever in my book. No self respecting reputable business would use a name that corny.
Checking a shop with the State is a pretty good idea. This seems to be one of the more blatant cases of unlawful or unfair business practices. There are many good repair shops. These give them a bad name.
